Trench knife ------------ I saw a blade in my dreams that was more like a dowel with three sides about six or eight inches long I thought it looked like something I could make with my playdoh fun factory I was laying cards around it in the shape of a triangle in the dirt and leaves face down the last card I turned up at the top of the triangle the Ace of spades the wind blew and the cards scattered a flash of silver swung across my vision and I woke up thirty years later at a baseball card shop in ohio in a showcase filled with war memorabilia the knife was there with the description: 1917 trench knife was outlawed by the geneva convention as inhumane Its triangular shaped blade did not allow a puncture wound to heal and greatly increased the chance of infection in back of the knife was a deck of cards used by infantry men the card on top the Ace of spades depicting three bones laid across each other in the shape of a triangle to form the 'A' in the center bones wrapped with the remains of grey tattered rags the color of leaves and soil blowing in the wind from a huge, black spade-shaped skull death was grinning and wielding a scythe with a long silver blade
